Many people feel a great need to travel during the ongoing Corona pandemic. Mainz and Trier are already „whetting the appetite“ when their great historical heritage can be experienced again. In a joint campaign supported by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economics, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture, the two Rhineland-Palatinate cities are promoting an exclusive offer.
Under the motto „Faraway worlds. So close.“, travel enthusiasts can apply for a special „ZeitReise“ for the summer of 2021 in one of the two cities. The focus will be on the unique selling points of each city, which should once again inspire guests to travel after the Corona pandemic: The cultural heritage of ancient Trier and medieval Mainz will be experienced up close with a variety of program points. In this way, Mainz and Trier are following up on successful campaigns of recent months to position themselves sustainably with their rich historical profile in German tourism.
Special weekend to be won, applications open until May 9, 2021
There are five „ZeitReise“ packages (for two people) to be won for each city, including two nights with breakfast in a double room in a first-class hotel as well as an exclusive supporting program that provides exciting encounters with historical personalities and authentic impressions of the respective eras. The „ZeitReise“ weekend in Trier will take place from June 25 to 27, the weekend in Mainz from July 02 to 04, 2021 – subject to feasibility due to current and upcoming Corona requirements.
To apply for the „ZeitReise“, an application video must be submitted. There are no limits to creativity – among other things, acting performances, poems and anecdotes describing why one would absolutely like to participate in the „ZeitReise“ to Mainz or Trier are possible.
The application videos must be uploaded to the website www.zeitreise-mainz-trier.de. A jury of experts from Mainz and Trier will then evaluate the videos and select the winners. The deadline for entries is May 9, 2021.
